DRFC Striker Set To Return At Oxford United

DRFC Striker Set To Return At Oxford United

Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson says Alfie May is very close to a return.

The striker has been sidelined since suffering a hernia problem in October.

Ferguson is considering featuring May against Scunthorpe United in the FA Cup on Sunday but he feels the trip to Oxford United is when he is likely to return.

"Alfie May is not far away," Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"He is going to be fit for next weekend. I could have possibly thrown him in on Sunday but I doubt I will do that.

"I will give him another weeks training so he will be fit for the Oxford game."

The 24-year-old, who arrived from non-league side Hythe Town in January, had been enjoying a promising start to the season before the injury, with the striker netting five times in 16 appearances.

Whilst May is close to a return, Doncaster still have a lengthy injury list with Ross Etheridge, Luke McCullough, Danny Andrew and Alex Kiwomya all still on the sidelines with long-term injuries.
