DRFC Rovers Receive Welcome Boost

DRFC Rovers Receive Welcome Boost

Doncaster Rovers have been boosted by the news that forward Alfie Beestin could return for the clash against Bradford City later this month.

Beestin suffered a ligament injury in the defeat at Rotherham United last time out and it was first feared that he would be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson has spoken today to say that Beestin could return for their next home fixture in front of the live Sky TV cameras on Monday 19th March, just three weeks after suffering his injury.

"Beestin is coming on magnificently well and we feel like he could be back in contention for the Bradford City game, which is huge for us," Ferguson told the Doncaster Rovers official website .

"The first scan showed an injury but we now feel like it was an old problem, which brings the timescale right down from six-to-eight weeks, to hopefully having him out training next week.

"He is a very good player and he has had a great season, and obviously with the amount of injuries we have had that is a big bonus for us."

Beestin has enjoyed a meteoric rise into the Doncaster first team this season, becoming a regular in the side.

The 20-year-old has made 24 appearances for Doncaster this season including scoring his first goals in the league.

Beestin joined Doncaster from non-league side Tadcaster Albion in the summer of 2016 following a successful trial with the club.

He scored on his first start for Doncaster in the Checkatrade Trophy win against Mansfield but he made just eight appearances last season with just two coming in the league.

This season, he had been a permanent fixture in the squad since November until suffering his injury at Rotherham and his early return will be a welcome boost for Doncaster.
