'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Donny Boss Ahead Of Port Vale

Sean O'Driscoll at Thursday's press conference:

On Steve Roberts

'Steve couldn't put any weight on the leg staight after the incident, you err on the side of caution in such situations and physio John Dickens fitted an air cast and put him on crutches.

'We'll assess him in the morning (Friday) but the early prognosis us is that he is definately out of Saturday's game.'

On Port Vale

'They probably mirror the season for a lot of teams in this division in that they are inconsistent and you never know what to expect of them. They got well beat by Chesterfield on Saturday and probably weren't at the races according to manager Martin Foyle, and then they bounce back to beat second-placed Oldham at home on Tuesday.'

On Rovers current form

'We need to get back to winning ways and I think that everyone is aware of that, but talk is cheap and you have really got to do it on the pitch.

'Even though we lost at Crewe there were still a lot of positives from the game. We looked bright again. We defended well as a team and we created chances.'
