'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alan Blayney joins the Rovers

Dave Penney has made his first signing of 2006 by signing Southampton goal-keeper Alan Blayney for £50k. Rumours circulated yesterday that Jan Budtz had broken his hand and was going to be out for several weeks. The club have not confirmed if this is true. Rovers have had no luck in the goal-keeper department this season with Andy Warrington and Barry Richardson both suffering broken legs. If the rumour regarding Budtz is true, then prior to the signing of Blayney the only fit 'keeper was young Tonny Nielsen.

Blayney was recently on loan at Brighton and is highly regarded by Seagulls fans.
