'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The price is right for Jason

According to press reports out of Hull, Rovers will be signing Jason Price later today. The winger could feature in tonight's game at Blackpool.

Rovers had a bid earlier in the season rejected for the former Tranmere player. Price was out of contract in the summer, and the Rovers have monitored him for a while. With Rovers having James Coppinger and Richard Offiong set to be suspended for three matches each, Penney was quick to act.

Hull City manager, Peter Taylor told the Hull Daily Mail 'It's been a very difficult decision for me because I love Pricey to bits.' The Hull gaffer went on to say 'He's been in the team in recent weeks but I couldn't say for sure he'll still be in my plans for next season.

'I'm looking for the future here and if I can't offer him longer than next year but he then gets offered longer elsewhere, I've got to look at that for him.

'Jason was out of contract at the end of this year and it was either a one-year with us or longer at another club like Doncaster.

'I've got to act in his interests and as a player in back-to-back promotions, I couldn't stop him having guaranteed work.'

Price made his Football League debut against Rovers at the Vetch Field in January 1997. His first senior hat-trick was against the Rovers in December 2004, when one of the goals came of his hand! He likes playing against us, lets hope he enjoys himself even more wearing the red and white hoops.

He has seven Wales U21 caps.
