'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The window is shut

Rovers did not make any last minute transfer signings before the window shut.

As expected, Tim Ryan has left the club by 'mutual consent', how mutual it was we don't know. It is rumoured that he left the club due to his involvement in Cyprus-gate.

Tim was a great servant to the club as was a member of the double promotion squad. Ryan, was a popular player especially for his never-say-die attitude and spectacular long range goals. He has missed a large part of the season though injury and is still recovering. This will not help his chances of joining another club. Scarborough, York, Scunthorpe and Boston are rumoured to be interested in signing the former England semi-professional captain.

Adam Hughes has joined Irish Eircom Premier League club Sligo Rovers. Sligo were promoted last season and include ex-Doncaster player Keith Foy. The Irish club report that they beat a number of League One and Two sides to sign Hughes. We don't know which league clubs these were, and if they were Football League or Sunday League teams.

With the transfer window now shut, clubs can only sign free-agents or loan players. Penney has hinted that he will be using the loan system.
