Doncaster in battle with Oldham

It has been widely reported that League One rivals Doncaster Rovers and Oldham Athletic are fighting it out to secure the signature of Birmingham City midfielder Neil Kilkenny.

Kilkenny has spent this season on loan at Oldham in a deal which expired today (Jan 1st). Oldham have announced that they have had a bid accepted by the Premier League side to bring in the player on a permanent deal.

Reports are suggesting that Doncaster Rovers have also launched a bid for the 23 year old who has scored 3 times in 23 appearances for Oldham this season. The reports state that like Oldham, Doncaster's bid has been accepted leaving the decision down to Neil Kilkenny.

I think he would have been a luxury signing. We didn't really need him but he would have been a nice addition to what is a strong team already.
