DRFC - Doncaster rue penalty miss

Doncaster Rovers
0 - 0
Swansea City

The Keepmoat

01/11/08 3pm

Attendance: 9,534

Referee:

Rovers missed a great chance to pick up their first three points since the end of August when Paul Heffernan had his 85th minute penalty saved by the Swansea keeper.

Rovers gave a debut to on loan signing Shelton Mathis from West Brom and Brian Stock came back into the side after his one match suspension.

Jason Price looked Doncaster`s main threat to break the deadlock for the home side but Rovers once again lacked a cutting edge in front of goal.

Swansea showed why they have done so well so far this season by playing good attacking football but also on this day lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.

Doncaster`s chance came to win the game when James Hayter was fouled in the area; Paul Heffernan who had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes took the responsibility of the penalty kick.

Unfortunately for Heffernan his penalty kick hit the big keeper and Heffernan followed up but his weak header went straight back to the keeper.

Rovers will be disappointed to miss the chance of three points but will be happy to bring an end their run of defeats again.

If the club are to have any chance of getting out of the relegation zone then we really do need to see a striker brought in sooner rather than later.

Gutted! A great chance to get off the bottom. You can see why Swansea are doing the best out of the teams promoted, they are a good side.
