Rovers back with a win

Rovers returned to action for the first time since the Christmas period, with a good performance and three points against Watford.

Rovers dominated the first half but couldn`t find a way through, Coppinger, Shiels, Sharp, Coppinger and Wilson all going close.

The home side deservedly took the lead inside five minutes of the restart, Coppinger`s clever back heel found Shiels who went past a defender before giving the keeper no chance from close range.

Watford came into the game after the setback and Mariappa came close when he just failed to get on the end of a Cleverly cross.

Will Hoskins had the visitor`s best chance to equalise but his shot was straight at Sullivan.

Defender Gareth Roberts sealed all three points for Rovers inside the final ten minutes when his long range shot beat Loach in the Watford goal.

Heidar Helguson got the visitors a consolation goal deep into injury time from the penalty spot after Sam Hird had fouled Hoskins inside the area.

Back in the starting eleven was club captain Brian Stock whose been missing since September through injury.

The victory sees Rovers climb up to twelfth in the table, just six points outside the play offs and with a game in hand on some of the teams above them

Great result after so long without a game.

Lovely to see Rovers sat in the top half of the division just after christmas. Lets hope they can have the same sort of second half to the season as the last and they'll definitely make the play offs.
