Rovers done by late strike

Doncaster Rovers failed to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup in over fifty years when losing to a late goal at Derby County.

Rovers had progressed to the fourth round in midweek thanks to a late goal at Brentford but this time the boot was on the other foot.

A fairly even contest was decided by Jay McEveley`s well struck left foot shot from the edge of the area in the final minute of normal time which was enough to give the home side a 1-0 win.

It was Derby`s first win over Rovers at the fourth attempt since Rovers returned to the Championship last season.

Teams:
Derby:
Bywater, Hunt, Barker, Buxton, Moxey (McEveley 75), Green, Savage, Johnson, Pearson; Davies (Commons 65), Porter (Hulse 78)
Unused Subs: Deeney, Teale, Pringle, Anderson.
Doncaster:
Sullivan, Chambers, O'Connor, Shackell (Hird 55), Roberts, Oster, Stock, Wilson (Heffernan 90), Sheils (Guy, 78), Coppinger, Sharp
Unused Subs: Smith (gk), Spicer, Hayter, Webster.

A great striker, worthy of winning any game.
