Ward makes instant impact

Doncaster Rovers recorded their first ever double over near neighbours Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night and continued their recent return to form.

Rovers won 2-0 thanks to a spectacular bicycle kick goal by debutant Elliott Ward and an own goal by James O`Connor.

The win was no more than Rovers deserved who knocked the ball around well on the big Hillsborough pitch.

The win was Rovers second in the space of four days and third clean sheet in a row since the disappointing home defeat by Reading at the start of the month.

After the Reading defeat, fans were beginning to look nervously over their shoulders at the relegation places but after this win, they are once again thinking about a charge for a play off place.
