Doncaster Rovers produced a stunning performance on their travels, putting five past Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Rovers made two changes from the side that drew with Crystal Palace last weekend; Jay Emmanuel-Thomas made his first start for the club in place of Dean Shiels and Sam Hird replaced Elliott Ward in defence.

In a pulsating first half that saw six goals, Rovers were in the lead inside three minutes thanks to some good work by Billy Sharp.

The striker ran at the City defence before pulling the ball back for Emmanuel-Thomas who had plenty of time to pick his spot in front of goal.

City were level inside the first ten minutes when Bradley Orr tapped in after good work by Campbell-Ryce.

Rovers were back in front within three minutes, Oster`s cross was turned in by Sharp.

In a non-stop first fifteen minutes City were back on level terms when Bradley Orr scored his second for the home side after another cross by Campbell-Ryce.

The closest City came closest to take the lead for the first time was when Maynard hit the crossbar from distance.

Rovers were back in the lead just past the half hour; Sharp scored his second of the afternoon when he was put through on goal and he gave Gerken no chance in the City goal.

Rovers got a two-goal cushion for the first time in the afternoon close to half time, Coppinger`s corner wasn`t cleared and it fell to Emmanuel-Thomas who took his time before picking his spot from twelve yards out.

A fantastic first half and Rovers were well worthy of their 4-2 lead going in at the break.

In a much quieter second half Rovers extended their lead just past the hour mark. Bradley Orr scored his third goal of the afternoon, this time at the wrong end when his sliced clearance found it`s way into the back of the net.

This killed off any hopes the home side had of a comeback and the game fizzled out as Rovers celebrated their biggest win since beating Southend in the League One play off semi final in 2008.

It was the first time Rovers had scored five on their travels since beating Barnsley by the same score line in 2005.

The win moves Rovers back into the top half of the table in twelfth place and they will be hoping to continue this form when they travel to Preston North End on Tuesday night.

A fantastic result for Rovers especially with a few clubs near the bottom winning. In the top half but still only seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Emmanuel-Thomas looks a fantastic signing for the rest of the season. Well done for getting him in, I think we should look more often at taking some of the youngsters on long term loans from the top sides in the Premiership.

Fair play fellas, you demolished us today and it should've/could've been 10. I've always had high regard for the way O'Driscoll likes his teams to play. If only we could have a manager that clued up instead of the joke we have. We will go down on this performance. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Cheers Tins, to be honest we have looked like doing that to someone since getting promoted to the Championship.
