Rovers win thriller

Doncaster Rovers finished off their home campaign in the Championship with a thrilling 4-3 win over Scunthorpe United.

With both sides certain of Championship football next season all was to play for was local pride which allowed a free flowing game of football.

Gary Hooper set the ball rolling on nineteen minutes for the visitors but their lead was short lived when Jay Emmanuel-Thomas equalised within three minutes with a cool lob over the keeper.

Rovers took the lead on the stroke of half time when Jordan Mutch ghosted in at the far post to score.

Scunthorpe were level within ten minutes of the restart through Paul Hayes.

Rovers retook the lead again when James Hayter`s shot hit the inside of the post and found the back of the net.

Hooper looked like he`d earned the visitors a point with just six minutes remaining with his second goal of the afternoon.

Shelton Martis clinched the points for Rovers in the final minute when his header looped over Murphy in the Scunthorpe goal.

Now it would be nice to finish with a win at Swansea and finish in the top half, well done this season I really thought Rovers were relegation bankers and I'm glad I was proven wrong.
