Rovers battle to draw

Doncaster Rovers battled to a 0-0 at Swansea City on the final day of the season with a terrific defensive display.

Swansea needed three points to have any chance of a play off place.

Rovers gave a rare start to Ben Smith in goal as he replaced Neil Sullivan.

Swansea had the best chances of the first half with Kuqi, Cotterill and Pratley all going close.

Rovers rarely threatened the Swansea goal and Emmanuel-Thomas had there best effort from distance which went over the bar.

The second half followed a pretty similar pattern with Cotterill and Pratley having early chances to open the scoring.

Rovers had more chances in the second half with Swansea pushing men forward in search of a goal, Coppinger forcing De Vries into his first save of the afternoon.

Dean Shiels had a couple of good opportunities for Rovers but failed to hit the target.

Heffernan had a great chance to earn a victory for Rovers late on but he shot over when well placed.

Swansea thought they had won all three points in injury time when Beattie found the back of the net but the referee had already blown for a handball by Dyer.

Rovers finish the season in the top half of the table in twelfth place after a tremendous second season in the Championship.

A good battling draw. Well done on a top half finish. Can Rovers hang onto O'Driscoll and there main players this summer?

What a great season for Rovers, limited budget, small squad and they were most peoples favourites for relegation. At one stage I really thought they was going to make the play offs.
