Doncaster Rovers crashed to their heaviest defeat since returning to the Championship but they will wonder what might have been after conceding an equaliser on the stroke of half time to a dubious penalty.
Rovers welcomed back striker Billy Sharp to the starting line up for the first time since October.
The home side had the first chance of the afternoon when Bednar headed over.
Rovers missed a great chance inside five minutes when the inform James Hayter fired wide when through on goal.
The reprieve didn`t last long for the home side when Sharp turned the ball home to give Rovers the lead on seven minutes.
Former Rovers midfielder Richie Wellens tried to get the home side back on level terms but his effort went wide of the target.
The home side were trying hard to get back on level terms and Andy King went closest when his effort hit the bar.
David Healy missed a fantastic chance to put Rovers two up when he intercepted a poor back pass, he round Weale in the Leicester goal but sliced his shot on goal with the goal at his mercy.
Leicester equalised on the stroke of half time when Paul Gallagher converted from the spot after Neil Sullivan and James O`Connor were harshly penalised for a foul on Lloyd Dyer.
The home side started the second half well and Wellens, Vassell and Davies all had good chances to give them the lead.
Leicester were getting ever closer and Cunningham saw his fierce shot come back off the bar.
Richie Wellens fired the home side ahead when he beat Sullivan from twenty yards.
It wasn`t long before Leicester had a third when Kyle Naughton found space on the right before crashing the ball past Sullivan.
The home side were now in total control and it wasn`t long before there was a fourth when Vassell slid the ball under Sullivan.
Leicester scored a fifth in injury time when Waghorn was on hand to tap home after King hit the post.
