Wolves blow away Rovers

Doncaster Rovers bowed out of the FA Cup with a whimper at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

Billy Sharp had a good chance early on but he couldn`t beat Marcus Hahnermann when one on one with the keeper.

Wolves took the lead moments later when Fletcher headed past Sullivan after a good ball into the middle by Hunt.

Mujangi Bia almost doubled the lead soon after but his shot just went wide of the post.

Zubar was next to go close for the home side but once again he failed to hit the target for the home side.

Bia then missed a great chance to double the lead when he blazed over the bar from close range.

Rovers then thought they had good claims for a penalty when Coppinger went down inside the area but the referee waved away their claims.

Rovers started the second half brightly and Coppinger saw a shot deflected for a corner.

Mujangi Bia did double the lead just past the hour when the ball went across the box and found Bia who side footed into the net.

The game was all over as a contest within five minutes when Kevin Doyle ran Sam Hird ragged before beating Sullivan at his near post.

Rovers were looking totally down hearted by now and it was soon four when Stearman played in Jarvis and he slotted past Sullivan.

Wolves score a fifth in the final minute when Jones scored from the edge of the area after Rovers failed to clear at a corner.

The defeat gives Rovers a free weekend on January 29th.
