On loan striker Jason Euell scored his first goal for the club as Rovers came from behind to claim a point against Watford at the Keepmoat.
Rovers had mixed news before the game when leading goalscorer Billy Sharp returned to the starting line up.
Simon Gillett also returned to the bench after his long-term injury to boost the numbers.
The bad news was that veteran keeper Neil Sullivan was once again on the sidelines as he still struggles with injury that forced him out earlier in the month.
Sharp had Rovers first meaningful effort on goal but his shot from distance went just wide of the post.
Danny Graham had the visitor`s first proper sight on goal but his effort from distance also drifted wide.
Graham gave Watford the lead halfway through the first half when he headed in from close range after the ball had been headed back across goal.
Rovers were enjoying plenty of play but were struggling to break through a resolute Watford defence.
Jason Euell got Rovers back on level terms in injury time at the end of the half, he controlled a ball over the top with his chest before firing past Loach, the ball came off the inside of the post to nestle into the opposite corner of the net.
It was the first goal by an outfield player in over 700 minutes of football since Billy Sharp scored at Ipswich.
The goal sent the sides in level at half term in a fairly even first half.
Watford started the second half well and Whichelow and Sordell both had early efforts on goal for the visitors.
Euell then forced Loach into a good save as Rovers had their first effort of the second half.
Euell was enjoying his home debut and he again had sight of goal but this time his effort went over the bar.
Watford were reduced to ten men inside the last ten minutes when John Eustace was shown his second yellow card of the afternoon for handball.
Mills tried his luck from distance for Rovers as they searched for a winner with Loach holding onto it at the second attempt.
Rovers tried in vain to find a winner in the closing minutes with Keegan and Euell both missing chances but Watford held on for a point.
The draw sees Rovers slip a place in the Championship to nineteenth place and they now face a trip to Derby County on Tuesday night.
