Rovers hit for five

Doncaster Rovers mini revival was blown away at Elland Road on Saturday as a rampant Leeds side won 5-2.

Rovers were boosted by the return to the squad of James Coppinger and James Hayter who were named amongst the substitutes.

Leeds took the lead on twelve minutes when Max Gradel cut in from the left before beating Woods from fully 30 yards.

Rovers were level on the stroke of half time when Billy Sharp, at the second attempt, beat Schmeichel from a tight angle.

After being under pressure for long periods of the first half, it was a great time to equalise for Rovers.

It got even better at the start of the second half when Franck Moussa was played in and he beat Schmeichel to make it 2-1.

Rovers lead was short lived when John Howson collected the ball for Leeds in the middle of the park before beating Woods with a shot from the edge of the area.

Leeds retook the lead when Becchio was totally unmarked in the middle of goal to fire past Woods, with the Rovers defence frantically appealing for a offside.

Any chance Rovers had of getting back into the game were ended when Gradel was on hand to score his second after Woods could only parry a Paynter shot.

Leeds wrapped it up in injury time when Howson was allowed to run in on goal before picking his spot to score.

Rovers will now have to try and get back on track when they entertain Coventry City on Tuesday night.

Outclassed and it could have been 10
Tiny T
Outclassed Tiny but Rovers once again showed Leeds frailties in not killing off games and weak at the back.
