Rovers and Preston share the points

Doncaster Rovers and Preston battled to a draw in an entertaining game at the Keepmoat.

With both sides desperate for the points at the wrong end of the championship table, it was surprisingly an open game.

George Friend drew a great save from Preston keeper Iain Turner in the opening minutes as the home side looked to open the scoring.

Preston probably had the best chance of the first half when Johnson put the ball into the side netting with the goal at his mercy.

Franck Moussa came close to opening the scoring for Rovers when his volley came back out off the underside of the crossbar.

Rovers finally took the lead with just thirteen minutes remaining when Brian Stock fired in from the edge of the area against his former club.

Preston equalised just three minutes later when Paul Hayes, who had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes reacted quickest after Khumalo hit the bar.

The point was a better result for Rovers and they are remain fifth from bottom, and are now eight points clear of the relegation zone with five games remaining.

Rovers travel to Hull on Saturday whilst the bottom four are all in action.

Fourth from bottom Crystal Palace, host third from bottom Scunthorpe, whilst bottom placed Sheffield United travel to second from bottom Preston.
