Rovers condemned to another defeat

Doncaster Rovers suffered another defeat as two second half goals condemned them to their fifth defeat of the season.

Goals from Anthony Gerrard and Rob Earnshaw were enough for the home side.

Sean O`Driscoll welcomed back James Coppinger to the side after missing the past two games with a calf strain.

Rob Earnshaw had a very early chance for the home side but saw his effort come back off the post.

Richard Naylor then almost put through his own goal for Rovers.

Anthony Gerrard then fired over for the home side as Cardiff started on the front foot.

Kyle Bennett had Rovers first chance but his shot went wide of the post.

Kenny Miller was next to have a chance for the home side but his effort was well over the bar.

Darcy Blake went close for the home side when he headed wide from a Cardiff corner.

James Hayter saw a shot saved by David Marshall as the game headed past the half hour.

Simon Gillett had an effort blocked by Cardiff defender Anthony Gerrard as the game headed towards half time.

Rovers headed in for half time with the game scoreless.

O`Driscoll made a substitution at the start of the second half with Milan Lalkovic replacing Richard Naylor.

Mark Hudson had an early second half chance for the home side but Woods saved his header.

Cardiff took the lead following a free kick from Peter Whittingham that was headed home by Gerrard.

Rob Earnshaw put his bad miss against England behind him from midweek when he doubled the lead with fifteen minutes remaining.

Earnshaw tucked the ball away after good work from Kenny Miller and Peter Whittingham.

Defending for both goals was comical. We aren't scoring enough to allow silly mistakes at the back.
