Gillett earns point for Rovers

Doncaster Rovers made it four points in two games as they came from behind to earn a point in a 1-1 home draw with Hull City.

New boss Dean Saunders stuck with the same side that beat Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Billy Sharp remained on the bench and there was still no place for Ryan Mason.

Hull came closest to scoring in the opening fifteen minutes when Rovers defender Shelton Martis got back to clear Matthew Waghorn`s shot off the line.

James Coppinger had Rovers best effort in the opening twenty minutes but Adriano Basso got down well to save his shot from a free kick.

Hull took the lead on twenty-five minutes when Waghorn scored from close range after a cross from Matt Fryatt.

Rovers thought they had equalised before half time when James Coppinger finished but the assistant had his flag up for an offside decision.

Once again, Rovers were boosted by the introduction of Billy Sharp, who came off the bench early in the second half.

It wasn`t long before Rovers were level when Simon Gillett blasted home after a knock down from Jon Parkin.

Sharp came close to giving Rovers the lead inside the final ten minutes but his header was saved by Basso.

Hull almost pinched it in the final minutes when Nicky Barmby just failed to get on the end of a free kick.

Another point for Rovers sees them remain at the foot of the table, as they now prepare for a visit to Peterborough United on Saturday.
