Rovers held by Cardiff

Doncaster Rovers had to settle for a draw against promotion chasing Cardiff City with the home side missing the best opportunities.

Rovers El Hadji Diouf came closest to breaking the deadlock in the game when his effort clipped the post in the opening minutes of the second half.

Defender James O`Connor also went close for the home side when he headed over from close range.

Billy Sharp had appeals for a penalty waved away when he went over the legs of Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall.

The visitors rarely threatened the Rovers goal with Peter Whittingham`s weak effort the best they had to offer.

The draw means Rovers remain second bottom of the championship with Barnsley in the bottom half of the table winning on Saturday.

Donny were absolutely brilliant, never stopped working and once again were robbed by the ref`. If they carry on with this kind of commitment then we have got to go up the table.

Should definitely have been a penalty. The keeper took none of the ball whilst sending Sharp sprawling. Next week at Bristol City is massive.

Despite not winning, if we can take these performances on the road then we will definitely stay up.
