Rovers down after rollercoaster at the Keepmoat

Doncaster Rovers have been relegated to League One after four years in the championship after a rollercoaster afternoon at the Keepmoat.

Rovers raced into a two goal lead inside five minutes thanks to goals from Habib Beye and Fabian Robert.

The game changed just short of the hour when Beye was sent off for an alleged foul in the penalty area on Portsmouth striker Dave Kitson and Greg Halford scored from spot.

Within six minutes Portsmouth were level when Halford scored his second from the penalty spot.

Rovers were quickly back in front when James Coppinger scored for Rovers but two goals in injury time from Kitson and Marco Futacs condemned Rovers to League One.

No the squad rebuilding can start in earnest. Get rid of all the has-been loan players who are only here because they want to find a better team, and develop a side who actually want to be Doncaster players.

Five new signings from the youth squad need to be tested at adult level to see what they are made of, are they to be part of our team of tomorrow ? Give them a chance now !

Sad to see you go down Donny. Hopefully it is for just one season.

I am just glad we are now out of our misery. Yesterday summed up our season in 90 minutes. Play well, for a change we got the goals, should have got more, a shocking refereeing decision or three go against us and we concede late on. Let the clear out begin and let us build a team of players who know what it takes to compete in League One.
