Rovers finish with a defeat

Doncaster Rovers ended their disappointing championship season with another defeat, this time at home to Ipswich Town.

Tommy Smith and Ryan Stevenson gave the visitors an early two goal lead before Fabian Robert scored his second goal in four games to give Rovers hope before half time.

Substitute Jason Scotland won and converted a penalty for Ipswich with just over ten minutes remaining before Habib Beye scored a late consolation for Rovers in stoppage time.

Rovers finished bottom of the championship and manager Dean Saunders can now start preparing for life in League One next season after a four-year stay in the championship.

A bit reminiscent of the old days before Billy, desperate for a hungry striker ! someone to give them confidence to push the ball forward without up and unders and cross your fingers, or if in doubt, back to goalie.

That in the end what has sent Rovers down. Another 8 or 9 goals by Billy in the second half of the season and I think we would have stayed up. Glad he's done well at Southampton.

The goals for and against tells the story - most goals conceded and almost the least scored. Is Woods good enough for next season?
