Rovers produce stunning comeback

Doncaster Rovers produced a stunning comeback to knock championship side Hull City out of the Capital One League Cup.

Rovers won 3-2 after going two down inside ten minutes after Aaron McLean and Jay Simpson had scored for the visitors.

David Syers scored his first competitive goal for Rovers on the half hour to give Rovers a lifeline.

Rob Jones equalised for Rovers on 56 minutes when he headed past Ben Amos.

Rovers were given a numerical advantage inside the final fifteen minutes when Hull substitute Paul McKenna was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

With the game looking like it was going to go into extra time, Syers scored his second of the evening to complete the turnaround.

Rovers will find out their third round opponents when the draw for the third round is made on Thursday night on Sky following the game between Northampton Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

What a great result. We have shown tonight we have the fighting spirit after going two down so early. Gives us a big money spinner away in the 3rd round.
