Hayter haunts Rovers

James Hayter scored the opening goal against his former club as Doncaster Rovers lost 2-1 at Yeovil Town.

Hayter enjoyed five years at the Keepmoat stadium and wrote himself in Rovers folklore in 2008, with the only goal of the game in the League One play off final win against Leeds United.

The striker was released at the end of last season as Rovers started to prepare for life back in League One.

Hayter headed Yeovil ahead on 56 minutes when he rose to head past Gary Woods. Hayter showed respect to his former club by not celebrating the goal.

Yeovil secured the win with just six minutes remaining when a poor attempted header away was only flicked towards the Rovers goal and substitute Gozie Ugwu picked up on the loose ball to chip over Gary Woods.

Billy Paynter scored a injury time consolation goal for Rovers but it is back to back defeats for the club in League One and they now have to wait two weeks until they are in action again when they travel to Colchester United.

Hayter showed due respect to his old club by not celebrating a well scored goal. New boy Hume didn`t have time to show what he is capable of. Hope the little break because of the Oldham postponment will give us the chance to jell a bit. !!
