Rovers deliver knockout blow on Boxing Day

Doncaster Rovers kept up their great away record this season and also their fight for an automatic promotion place with a dramatic late win at Oldham Athletic.

David Syers headed home in injury time to complete a Rovers double over Oldham in the space of a month.

Rovers made a great start with Rob Jones heading home his fifth goal of the season inside five minutes.

Oldham pegged Rovers back just before the half hour when Youssouf M`Changama beat Gary Woods from long-range.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until Syers popped up in injury time to guide his header into the far corner of the net.

The win sets up Rovers nicely for the New Years Day clash with South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield United at the Keepmoat.

Rovers are in fourth place, three points behind United at the top of the table.
