Doncaster Rovers 1 - Colchester United 0

Perfect ten from Cotterill

Doncaster Rovers moved joint top of League One with a 1-0 home win over Colchester United at the Keepmoat thanks to a tenth goal of the season from David Cotterill.

Rovers left it late before clinching the points against Colchester who came into the game having lost their previous seven games.

Emile Sinclair was given his debut for Rovers after signing earlier in the day from Peterborough United and Lee Fowler came off the bench, following his arrival from Fleetwood Town on Friday.

A dour game was brought to life with just six minutes remaining when David Cotterill scored.

The goal was worthy of winning any game as he cut in from the left before curling his shot into the far corner of the net.

It was never a classic game, but Rovers showed that they can grind out results when required.

They now travel to Stevenage next Saturday looking to make it twelve games away from home unbeaten and a new club record.
