Rovers miss another chance to go top

Doncaster Rovers missed another opportunity to move to the top of League One as they ground out a 1-1 draw at a Crawley Town.

Josh Simpson gave Crawley the lead in the 25th minute when he latched onto a poor clearance by Rob Jones and he gave Gary Woods in the Rovers goal no chance from the edge of the area.

James Coppinger then missed a great chance to bring Rovers level minutes later when he got in behind the Crawley defence. He seemed caught in two minds and his cross/shot hit the outside of the post.

Rovers were level just before the break when a good deep ball by David Cotterill found youngster James Husband at the back post and his diving header gave Jones no chance in the Crawley goal.

The second half saw few clear-cut opportunities with Crawley looking the more likely to find a winner with Jamie Proctor, Billy Clarke and Mustapha Dumbuya all going close for the home side.

Rovers had a late flurry but failed to trouble the Crawley goal but the point does move them back into the automatic promotion places as they moved joint top with Bournemouth.

Some players such as Billy P seemed to get "stage fright" which took the edge off the good work done once again by our back four. Captain fantastic got a couple of split lips for his efforts and just said "it won`t be the last" Let`s hope with the inclusion of one month loan signing, John Lundstram, from Everton, we get back to winning ways against Yeovil on Saturday
