Doncaster Rovers went down to a 4-1 defeat at Reading as Rovers suffered a bad day all round.

The defeat, Rovers heaviest of the season, was compounded with the loss of Rob Jones with a suspected broken arm in the final fifteen minutes leaving Rovers down to ten-men having already used their three substitutes.

Reading started strongly and they deservedly took the lead on 11 minutes when Danny Guthrie picked his spot after good work from Pavel Pogrebnyak.

Rovers came back into the game, mainly down to a bold substitution from manager Paul Dickov, who brought on striker Theo Robinson half way through the first half and it was Robinson who brought Rovers level just past the half hour.

Mark Duffy saw his free kick saved by Adam Federici and Robinson was quickest to react and smash home from a tight angle.

Rovers were enjoying plenty of possession but the pace of Jonathan Obita was causing them problems on the break and it was a run from Obita from deep in the Reading half that found Adam Le Fondre, who beat the advancing Turnbull.

The second half saw Rovers continue on the front foot but their chances of salvaging something from the game disappeared when Jones was forced off injured.

With Rovers down to ten-men, Reading picked holes in the Rovers defence. First, Gareth McCleary picked his spot with time and space and then Pavel Pogrebnyak smashed home deep into stoppage time to give the game a false reflection of what had been a close game until Jones was forced off.
