Attendance: *Rochdale won 5-4 on penalties
Doncaster Rovers bowed out of the Checkatrade Trophy at Rochdale after losing in a penalty shoot-out after the game had finished 1-1.
Tommy Rowe saw his penalty saved in the penalty shoot-out as Rochdale progressed 5-4.
Doncaster started brightly in the game but they found themselves behind just past the half hour when Matthew Gillam scored from the penalty spot after Harry Toffolo had fouled Andrew Cannon in the area.
Liam Mandeville made sure the game went to penalties when he equalised for Doncaster with just 17 minutes remaining. Mandeville ran on to an Alfie Beestin through ball to fire past Lillis.
Rochdale scored with all five of their penalties and Doncaster scored their first four through Niall Mason, Mandeville, Issam Ben Khemis and Craig Alcock but Rowe saw their fifth penalty saved to send Rochdale through.
