Doncaster Rovers fought back to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury Town.

Promotion chasers Shrewsbury looked like inflicting a first defeat in seven games on Doncaster after goals from Mat Sadler and Carlton Morris but goals in the last half hour of the game from Mathieu Baudry and Issam Ben Khemis earned Doncaster a point.

Shrewsbury controlled the game for much of the first half with set pieces a regular problem for the Doncaster defence.

Doncaster were forced into an early change when Andy Butler was forced off after a poor tackle from him that resulted in a free-kick to Shrewsbury and Morris headed just over for the home side.

Sadler gave the home side the lead on 21 minutes when he poked home from close range after Doncaster failed to clear a corner.

Goalkeeper Ian Lawlor then kept Doncaster in the game with a fine save to deny Alex Rodman.

James Coppinger had the best chance for Doncaster in the first half but Dean Henderson denied him with a low save.

Lawlor then made a good save early in the second half to deny Aristote Nsiala but he could do nothing to stop Shrewsbury doubling their lead on 52 minutes when Morris was found in space close to goal after Doncaster once again failed to clear their lines and Morris hooked the ball home.

Doncaster received a lifeline just past the hour when Baudry rose highest to head home a Coppinger corner.

Matty Blair almost equalised when his effort was cleared off the line but Ben Khemis then equalised in bizarre circumstances when Shrewsbury keeper Henderson carried the ball over his own line.

A deep cross from Ben Khemis looked easy for Henderson to claim only for his momentum to carry him over the line.

Doncaster had chances to win the game. Henderson atoned for his error with a good save from Ben Whiteman and Baudry almost scored his second of the afternoon but his header could only land on the roof of the net.
